This «Rhythm in Motion» class is a proposition to deepen the connexion between dance and rhythm by bringing technical tools from percussives dances and then, invest all the material in a choreographic writing ; therefore this class is devided in two parts :
-The first part is a technical approach in which we work on rhythm vocabulary in a sensitive way by involving the body with the notion of impact, understanding the division of the pulsation, rhythms footwork inspired by percussive dances, Stomp/clap technics from body drumming, variety of sounds we can produce with the body as a particular instrument…
-The second part is a choreographic approach : all this technical material is invested in a new context, deepening the connexion with space and movement, searching to coordonate the fluidity of the movement and the impact or the rigor of the pulsation, taking the risk to fill the space, improvise and build complex movement without loosing the beat !
By making this proposition, I’m aware of the various public whom I should adapt my work. From a playful class for amateur or young dancers to give them a good introduction to rhythm… to a challenging class for dance students or professionals who need to deepen their rhythmical sensitivity ; to both, give them new tools to play with, to be inspired to create and develop new skills…
